Cold Chicken: Hinanese Delights Experience

(Delayed post, this was suppose to be August 10)

Most of you guys heard about that Jollibee chicken joy problem a few days ago right? But any of you experienced eating cold chicken?

For sure you guys have seen Hinanese Delights in some malls right, this has been around for years if I’m not mistaken and to be honest I don’t even bother eating here because I had a bad experience before and I really don’t want to have it again. But today with all positivity I took a chance and see if they improved…sadly it’s all the same and today was horrible.

The reason that this place is on my X LIST was because the place was unsightly, food was oily, food that we ordered didn’t come in after waiting for so long and only to find out that dish wasn’t available(grabe naman, ikaw kaya magutom, maghintay tapos malaman mo hindi pala available yung hinihintay mo…saya di ba?!) and all in all they don’t deliver what i remembered hinanese chicken should be.

Fastforward today, for lunch we wanted to have a good meal but since the place we originally wanted to eat at was on a waiting list we just decided to eat what’s readily available and stupid me I decided to eat at Hinanese Chicken because it was empty. Bulag geri? Dapat signal na yun sa’yo na walang kumakain di ba?! My boyfriend asked, are you sure you want to eat here? You said you had a bad experience before remember? But I answered, this is a different branch (this was in ROBINSON’s MAGNOLIA) so I know this will be different. Yup it was different all right!

We ordered their Hinanese chicken, their dumplings which is half steamed & half fried, then fried pork chop.

After placing orders we sat at the corner where we have the view of the whole place. Observations from previous dining experience was again same here. I guess no matter which branch you are, it still looks the same… Kinda sad looking.

After maybe 5-10 mins food came in, the porckchop, dumpling and chicken. So with all excitement and no time to waste (coz this is our first meal of the day)we start to eat… And then it hit me, like cold water, i stopped chewing. Something is wrong, i touched the chicken… Amazing! Galing ba ‘to sa ref? So i called for attention and said that the chicken is really cold. To prove it i even touched it so they know… And here was the answer i got: “Ma’am malamig po kse sa pwesto nyo.” Really are you sure about that? So the moment that you placed down the food the air-con cools it so fast, not even a minute?! San ba ako nakaupo sa freezer? To be honest arguing is pointless, all i wanted is to be served with warm food at least. They took the meal, reheated it and that’s it.

I don’t want to say anything anymore, but point out that some places are just not worth to go eat at. I feel bad cause the place has a potential to offer good food but its all mediocre. So I give this place a really bad rating. If you have better experience good for you continue patronizing them, but as for me i’m ignoring this place until the day comes it gets an overhaul.

PS: If you are in the service, stop explaining and just say we’ll act on the situation right away.

Clothes Now: Stop with the 90s Lets see 50s

Been days since i wrote, just been busy and I’m actually looking for something to share about, but now i got me an idea! *lightbulb*

Let’s talk about girly stuff…clothes!
I knew then that i have always love clothing (girly side of me) but as i aged i stopped following / doing trends and buying stuff. For one, some clothes are fad, two, you don’t have enough events or seasons to wear everything, and lastly, It’ll be a stupid use of money. Clothes are to keep you away from being naked and the elements, it also keeps us presentable and NOT to show off any status in society or show off skin or your innards. Get it?! But with all those reason, I still admire looking at them and talking about them.

Im not sure its something to brag about but I always have an idea what trends will be good, a hit, a flop, a lasting one and I always say when it will catch up.

Example:
2 years ago i said things that’ll be a hit are denim overalls & plaid button down polo. Basically 90s will be back! Even platform shoes, doc martens (lace up boots) will be in again. And slowly those things are creeping in. The crop Shirts i dunno why have it back though seriously…:/

3years ago high gladiator sandals will be a hit! Yup its almost everywhere and people are wanting them so I ditched it! Lol! It’ll be a fad.

Saying those not so worthy braglist, I’ll just talk about what I think will be haunting ladies in the coming months or next year.

FULL SKIRTS!

20140804-094706-35226038.jpg

Let’s channel 1950s! Skirts will be full and long, below the knee length. NOT KNEE LENGTH OR ABOVE THE KNEE Ladies this skirt will hug your waist and will love it. This style is perfect for all women specially curvy ladies! Yay! We’ll have our figures back! This kind of skirts are good to keep. It tells us ladies please be classy 🙂 More example below, feast your eyes and learn.

20140804-100208-36128400.jpg

20140804-100225-36145672.jpg

Keep in mind wear them with proper foot wear. Wedges and heels will be perfect but I’d wanna see a brave soul partner it with flats but then it can make you small and your skirt is eating you. LOL!

Talking about this skirts, the huge bows i think will follow, but I think be smart about it. It can be too much.

20140804-100637-36397764.jpg

Now let’s tweak 50s to something more MODERN. By modern i mean this requires clothing that has clean and crisp fabrics. LESS IS MORE

20140804-101113-36673121.jpg

20140804-101233-36753527.jpg

20140804-101351-36831462.jpg

Basically if you look at 50s clothes it is so clean and its ageless! So if you have this kind of clothing just keep them, you’ll be set for life. LOL! Look!

20140804-101557-36957706.jpg

Now if you want to be away from the super slick, clean and classy. There’s another thing you can do and this one is almost everywhere, so I won’t be surprise if more will be seen.

LAYERS AND HOODIES!

20140804-101913-37153325.jpg

20140804-102036-37236118.jpg

But if you see this samples, they still look clean, sticking with a simple color palette and no color blocking please.

There’s another top that i wanted to post but i can’t find yet, so maybe i’ll have it up sometime.

Now to end this, best accessory is your hair, and this kind of hair is common but I think it’ll be just be up a notch. Lol!

20140804-102758-37678055.jpg

20140804-102757-37677816.jpg

Bangs (full or side swept) will be seen less and I can see lighter hair colors. Color dye will be flying off shelves. LOL!

This is just another write up I wanna be out of my mind. Either you’ll like it or not. If this already exist in your country then cool! This is not yet in my country though, we are still lingering on the 90s look. Anyway that’s it for now! Peace 🙂

MENU: Cured Salmon Sandwich

20140729-130139-46899491.jpg

Woohoo! I didn’t know that you can easily make your own cured salmon! So now i can say buh-bye to pricey salmon sandwiches and hello to my own. (or whatever dish i want to use my salmon for.) Again wwooohooo!!! 😀

For the experienced chefs or cooks please don’t make small of my achievement. Since i got a place of my own it gave me a boost to make dishes i want, (brag:our family are great cooks and i’d say thankfully i inherited some of that, Thank you God) and i can now try to recreate dishes i had when i eat out. 🙂

CURED SALMON RECIPE:
1)Salmon must have skin but scaled.
2)Wash a little bit and pat dry.
3)Mix equal parts salt & sugar. In my case since i have small salmon (by small i mean 8″ in length) i used about 4 spoonfuls of salt & brown sugar. (It’s best if you use white sugar so it won’t stain your salmon to a darker pink color, but if that doesn’t bother you go ahead. According to other people its best if you put herbs on it so it can add more flavor but since i don’t have dill, I stuck with salt&sugar.)
4)Put the dry mix on the flesh part of salmon.
5)Seal the fish tightly in cling wrap and let it do its thing for 2 days. (i cut the fish in half and had the meat faced each other before sealing and with my case instead of 2 days, i had to open after a day cause it was watery inside the wrap. And since i was a newbie i got scared! Lol!)

20140729-112116-40876850.jpg
6) Slice thinly and pat dry some more if its too wet then put in a container with lid on. Now you can enjoy this in whichever form you wish! 🙂 errr…sorry i have no fillet knife 😛

20140729-112157-40917566.jpg
For my first try of the homemade cured salmon i made a sandwich so here it is.

– I toasted a baguette then spread some cream cheese with chopped onion leaks. (You can stick with plain one, i just want to try something else)

20140729-124755-46075959.jpg

– Added the sliced cured salmon.

20140729-125059-46259079.jpg

– For veggies, I added alfafa sprouts, romaine lettuce, sliced red onions, tomato & capers. (I added mayonaise)

-Good looking sandwich shot:

Ikaw na nag Shang!

20140727-221647-80207430.jpg

I noticed that shangrila mall has now the new wing fully functioning and same as greenbelt it has gucci, givenchy, etc…all those super branded shops are here as well.

So jokingly here’s what me & my bf said about this mall:

“Shangri-la now has two wings. Wings for the “nakakaluwag-luwag” and Wings for the super “maluwag” in life.”

“Shangri-la caters not only the rich BUT the richer.”

Well to be honest i don’t see that Shangrila mall is for the elite. Lol!

That’s it! This might make no sense but i just wanna share corny jokes. Its a sunday! Let’s enjoy it! Peace!

Different Types of People with Problems

If your problem can transform to a human being what would you say to it?

1) Pre isang suntok lang! Sa mukha lng!

2) Ugh!!! Bakit pinanganak ka pa?! Why do you even exist?!

3) *curse words* mamatay ka na!!!

Ok…ok… I know it is harsh, but we do have to admit that when we experience problems it doesn’t really make us happy. aminin! Wag martyr! And most of the time we wish we don’t have to go through it.

It is never easy going through the lows of our life and most of the time we want to pass it as fast and swiftly as we can…but reality is problems can be clingy. Yup, it grips on to you with dear life clasping and digging on to your skin with sharp nails. hay… ang saya di ba?

Now going through this inevitable part of our life, this will highlight our unique individuality and we may transform into the following:

1) The Magnet – This is the type that will talk and share their problem to any living thing that’ll pass their way. This are people that’ll make sure you get every detail of their problem and emotion. And by the end of the day it is not only you that was attracted to the force but more people will be there surrounding that person like electrons to a nucleus. (Tap on the shoulder for that scientific reference. Joke!)

2) The Repellant – This is obviously the opposite of the first example. This type will dismiss you and will choose to be alone. No matter how hard you try they’ll choose to be quiet, sit and sulk the negativity alone. Feeling mo tuloy pra kang lamok sa balat ng taong may “off” lotion. Kahit anong lapit, may invisible shield kaya hindi ka makadikit.

3) The Internet – (I was originally going to call this type megaphone *uy alam na edad* but i think it is so dated plus the internet goes worldwide) This is the type that isn’t satisfied with plain human connection but would prefer to broadcast so the news will spread like wildfire! The faster the better. The More the merrier.Talo pa ang satelite dish sa broadcasting capability nya. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, basta kung saan pwede magkuwento for sure may nakalagay! At sandamakmak pa ang hashtag, #irita #inis #grrr (Now i’m talking about having problems and not bashing a person, that’ll be a different topic and I’d gladly talk about those some other time.) This are the type that wants attention right away and fast.

There are actually a lot more but i’ll just limit with this 3 types for now, (maybe the other types i’ll discuss some other time) because if i described every person i have encountered it’ll probably send my thumb to a comatose state for typing too long.

Now I will admit I can be any of those type depending on my emotion. But I will be only for a certain amount of time. I choose not to dwell too long or else I’ll loose it. To be honest once i’ve had enough I’ll go on to serious mode and pray. I believe not everyone will have the same response, so please let me be…this is my storytelling and I do believe that God gives wisdom and strength in every situation I am in.

This blog is not to preach but I just wrote the content above to be funny and make the situation laughable. Serious talks will be reserve for some other time, I’ll have that when it feels right. But for now let’s just make this light? Alright? Ok? Good? Good! Lol!

Anyway what type are you? What do you do when problem arises?

That’s it for now! Peace 😀

Wait! What?!

Rode a taxi one sunday morning to go somewhere, the taxi’s radio is playing then a dj’s voice comes out.

[DJ]
Good morning all! Today we play the oldies, so relax and enjoy our music.

In my head, “so totally gonna hear old music, 60s, 70s… Oh well cute naman pakinggan e”

Then music starts… Hmmm i have heard this before… Then it hits me like cold water! O M G!!!

[music]
I’ll never break your heart… I’ll never make you cry… I’d rather die than live without you…
(bawal pretentious! Impossible hindi nyo alam lyrics)

Backstreet boys?! Is it old?! Wait!!!
What does that make me?! OLD?!!!
I actually didn’t think that music during my childhood is now considered old. Where did time go?

Tama? Relate? I think so. If you were born in the 80s and you grew up in the 90s like me then… CONGRATULATIONS! You survived your teenage years and now an ADULT!

Anyway I just find this funny and I thought I’d share it. So what tells you that your getting old?

By the way remember this:

20140723-162521-59121190.jpg

How about this:

20140723-162551-59151484.jpg

Well just want to share if you haven’t gotten this app, do so. Its called SPOTIFY. Literally its a music bank that makes you play all music! Its free! If your cheap like me you play music via wifi, but if you have data plan you can download music and play it even offline.

So that’s it! Have fun!!! 😀

Faith in YOSHINOYA Restored

(This should have been posted months ago)

Its been ages since i last ate at Yoshinoya! Last time I remembered eating here was when it first came out here in manila and a friend of mine encouraged me to try it because he tried it at Japan and says it was good. True enough it was. I remembered they had an unlimited condiments area where you get those pink pickled ginger (lol! I dunno what they’re called) and much more. To top it off the food was actually good.

Now after a few months after having it the first time, I decided to eat there alone and guess what??? Condiments area — POOF!! Gone!! Quality of food went crashing down! :/ seriously! What is this? Only good at the start? Quality check ignored?!

After that experience i said to myself NEVER TO EAT HERE AGAIN. I’m stuck with other Japanese fast food chains that sucks as well (I’ll write about this some other time. I think its common for these chains to start strong then just slowly fade).

Did I stick to my vow? Nope! Lol! Then again i tried it with my loving boyfriend. (Sheesh! Sorry, lol! He asked me why just put “we” in my previous blog since its mostly the two of us trying places. I didn’t know i have to identify. Lol!) anyway…. As i go back to the story, we tried it together and again it was fail! “Grrr…Di ka ba talaga nadala?” After that i did promise to ignore the place and never to try it ever again.

Then one faithful day there seems to be a different gush of wind. Lol! I noticed that they actually renovated! And the menu is new and its cheap! Im like now it looks interesting. Looks promising!

The interior is new. With great lighting and very lively colors, they chose to add apple green with their orange and brown color scheme. It is clean and it feels cheerful.
20140722-084552-31552723.jpg

With all courage like entering a battlefield we marched in and was ready to take the bullets this place will give us. In other words… SIGE NA PAGBIGYAN.

We ordered there meal for two people. 2 bowls of chicken teriyaki with vegetable side dish and one serving of tofu wrapped in bacon with teriyaki sauce. And if i remembered it was around Php200. So its a no brainer! Cheap and looks filling.

As we wait for our food to come, i observed the place and this caught my eye

20140722-085200-31920108.jpg sorry for the blur. My zoom can only get so far. Aaaawww there’s a cute toy vending machine. SILA NA NAGEEFORT TO LOOK BETTER well this machine didn’t work! Lololol! But there’s actually one that works as you enter the shop. Now with those tiny touches makes you actually appreciate their efforts.

So into the food! The waiter comes with our bowls. Woohoo time to eat!

20140722-090013-32413557.jpg This was the chicken teriyaki. looks ok.. Now for the taste. DRUMROLL PLEASE… And yes it was good! Wooohoo! Soft chicken, tender not overcooked and it was savory. The side dish was perfectly cooked. No veggies was wilted that day! All was crunchy and perfect. Whew that was a relief! I thought I’ll regret it again.

But wait there’s more! We still have that tofu dish. And a few minutes it was given to us.

20140722-090442-32682232.jpg hmmm…looks interesting… And slowly like pretentious food critics we ate and what do you know… This was actually REALLY REALLY GOOD! Tofu was melting and the bacon with the sauce gives great balance that you will actually keep eating until you’ll fight for a piece. 🙂

Now to sum up the experience… SLOW CLAP NAMAN DIYAN FOR THE REPACKAGING lol! Its actually good to be back eating at this fast food. Atleast this place is another option for people who wants to eat decent food with a budget. Now They have other menu and you can choose as you wish. Rice bowls, ramen etc. Though the ramen looks not so good…maybe i’ll try it next time. Also no pink pickled ginger was seen that day. I think if you want any condiments just ask a waiter, like what i did when i ask for a chili powder.

Again i came in perfect time when the place was newly renovated so I’m not sure how long they’ll keep it up. But please do try and see for yourselves and feel free to tell me if you have a better or worse experience than me. Lol!

That’s it for yoshinoya! Peace 🙂

Who wants TIM HO WAN? Tim Ho Wan experience 1

Alright! Yes! Just like a sheep that follows the herd, i caved in and lined up for tim ho wan.
20140721-134214-49334527.jpg

This restaurant has been heavily advertised in all media form and they keep saying that they take pride in their dimsums and the chefs. Yes, all this shop serves are dimsum. And the chefs that they have are from other countries, no locals. so i guess in that sense it makes the dish more authentic? Hmmm…

After church, we headed for megamall to do some grocery shopping. In mind we were thinking of a different place to eat but we saw that the line was miraculously short, (well compared to other weeks i have seen it) and we saw a window of opportunity so we grabbed it and queued in line. While in line a waitress took my name and how many are we and she handed a print of their menu.

Looking at their menu it looks typical to me. To be honest i see nothing different from other chinese restaurants that serves dimsum. By the way i tried searching the net for what to eat here and everyone keeps saying to get the heavens menu. Its made up of four dimsums. Pork bun, panfried carrot cake, steamed egg & vermicelli with pork liver… Errr ok…

Going back to the menu we scanned and decided to get what looks good for us. For our list we went for pork buns, carrot cake, vermicelli with bbq pork, fried prawn dimsum with wasabi, steamed beancurd roll and iced tea to drink. The price for this dimsums are a little higher than other dimsums (Php 100+ but not higher than Php 200) but in my mind im thinking if they have that michellin thing going on for them the price would be fair and most specially the wait in line will be worth it.

We lined around 5-10 minutes before 11 am and we got a table exactly 12 noon. When we sat down theres a piece of paper with their menu on it and you’ll put how many you’ll order for an item. I heard there’s a limit of quantity for some item but i didn’t actually confirmed it cause we just wanted to try their offers.

After writing our order we handed it to the waiter and he went to get our food. As we wait we noticed that the chefs are now locals. Hmmm… Are they locals? Do they now look locals? Are the original chef in a vacation? Leave? Or its a shift? Either way I’m thinking that will not change the taste and quality right?

In a minute the pork buns arrived. This was the most raved about dish among all blogs and reviews so now i get to taste it. And yes it was good! Hot and savory…but after time its getting to sweet for my palette. Im thinking its the bun. This pork bun would have been perfect with a noodle soup dish…if they had one.
20140721-134215-49335513.jpg

Then next to arrive are the fried prawn dumpling with wasabi, this is good as well perfectly crunchy cover and savory filling. (Excuse my face)
20140721-134216-49336429.jpg

Then next was the steamed beancurd roll, it was good same as other beancurd rolls i have tasted.
20140721-134217-49337316.jpg

Then the carrot cake came next, its ok. I have tasted better versions of this dish to be honest.
20140721-134218-49338163.jpg

Last was the vermicelli with bbq pork. This was also ok, then again i have tasted better but the bbq pork filling was good.
20140721-134218-49338996.jpg

Now you might say I’m negative. Well in my opinion this shop might be overly advertised that people have high expectations and to be honest it was just average. I can have the same quality or a better quality in other places or in a hotel. Probably what we ordered are not the best ones to get, so that’s why i made this a part 1 experience. Because to i am willing to try their other items and be proven wrong and i don’t mind having those pork buns again but next time it’ll be a take out.

So for people who wants to try this place i recommend the following:
1)Don’t come alone, be with someone or a group. Its best if there’s 3 of you cause the servings comes in 3 pieces.
2)Come in early like 10am if they’ll open by 11am. Being early can guarantee a shorter queue and better you might be the first ones. (If you hate lines come during dead hours thats usually weekdays around 4-5pm)
3)Don’t line up if you are really hungry…hungry to a point that you can eat a bear. (Bringing a snack can lessen your hunger if you do line up hungry)
4)Bring any form of entertainment. Ipad, book, work, anything to keep you looking away from time.
5)If you have kids make sure they ate and they are being entertained.
6)Enjoy what they have to offer and try what captures your palette. Don’t put them on a pedestal yet not until you proved it to yourself.

At the end of it all, try TIM HO WAN if you are curious cause my palette might be different from yours and have fun eating and enjoying the company you are with 🙂

Me, my oddventures, my life

Hello. I have been trying to blog in various sites and sadly none of them went on far. Why? Lack of content? Maybe… But i think its because im lazy opening a laptop and with the times now, i want easy blogging. From phone to blog. Thankfully this app runs on the phone and i can put as much photo as i write. So i hope now no excuses.

Anyway… in this blog i wish to document stuff that i tried, went through and such. If it educates and entertain others that’ll be a plus. By d way im no writter – writter. Lol! This is merely to express my thoughts and feelings. So lets see where it goes!

Peace!
